What is going on in the DRC?
Congo is facing significant challenges due to cobalt mining, including human rights abuses, exploitation of workers, environmental damage, conflict involvement, and health risks. Workers, including children, endure harsh conditions without adequate safety measures, despite global demand for cobalt. This industry also pollutes the environment and funds armed groups, contributing to regional instability. The toxic substances involved pose serious health risks to miners and nearby communities.
